I found out yesterday that I'm having a little girl while all the time I was expecting her to tell me that I am having a little boy. I feel as though the baby boy I thought I was going to be having has died and my daughter has taken his place. I've been very blue since I found out that she's a girl and not a boy. Why do I feel this way? Has anyone else experienced this? Will it go away any time soon? I feel horrible for being this way. I feel like I'm a horrible mother to feel this way. Please help.

Yes!! It isnt the baby blues. I got them at the end of my pregnancy and I think it is more common than postpartum, just everyone writes it off as "crazy pregnant women hormone stuff."

You were looking foward to your little boy for so long and it is like someone took him away. It is like you're looking foward to your birthday party all year and then on the day it doesnt happen...

Bad anology- but you understand what I am trying to say.

It is a trying time and it is very easy to get disappointed. When I was pregnant I cried about an applebees commercial for two days.

So being pregnant + disappointment = you. WHICH IS NORMAL!

hormones tend to make pregnant mommies a little crazy--you are just disapointed--as soon as you see your beautiful little girl you will think tht she is the best thing you have ever seen in your whole life--if you are still feeling blue after the baby is born let your Dr know so that you can get the help that you need

Hormones, Hormones, Hormones. This is totally normal and no reflection on the type of mother you'll be. Although if the depression does not go away talk to your doc. There are anti- depressants you can take while you are pregnant so you'll be happier for you and your little one.

Having a girl should be an amazing experience. I also thought I was having a boy, cause everyone was like,"oh, you look like your having a boy" but when they told me that I'm having a girl, I was shocked but excited.
Just imagine how cute she'll be with her little dresses and her cute hair due...
It' so exciting!!

You're just disapointed. It happens to more than will admit it. Once you see her you'll fall in love & not care what sex she is you'll be happy she's healthy. You are not a horrible mother, you are a normal pregnant woman.
