First of all, don't be anything but yourself. First impressions count, and believe me, you don't want to start out lying about who you are. I'm not saying that you'll find a new best friend the first day of school, but you'll meet people, trust me. Don't be too shy, but don't come across as cocky. Be confident in who you are; it'll show and people like that about other people.

They won't let you switch your classes!! Dang that must bite, I'm sorry ... at my school they let us, but you have to come up with a GOOD reason! Anyway ... just go up to someone you think you might like and say hi, you could be like are you any good at whatever subject, depending on your class ... ummmm ... be like I love your shoes, they're so cute ... ask if they mind if you sit with them, that you don't know anyone in that class, just be yourself and nice! When I started high school I started 4 days late and I didn't know anyone, and everyone had already made their little groups, so in Algebra I went up to this one girl who was sitting by herself (just make sure the person's not weird, and she wasn't) and asked if I could sit there, then we started talking and ended up really good friends! Good luck, hope you have a good year!!!!

Be bold and just say hi to people and ask questions from people around you. Particpate in class activities and be nice, then people will like you. If you talk to people, they will talk back and you will make friends. Smiling and good grooming will help. Your appearance also will make a difference.

I do know one thing, from watching others... I, myself, have never had to be the "new kid", but one piece of advice is to be yourself. I know that sounds "played-out"... but it couldn't be any more true. Chance are, if you just walk-in there, and put on a show to try and impress others, you'll end up giving others an odd vibe about yourself. They will pick up on it.

Don't try to make friend's to quickly. Give it awhile and choose them carefully. You will be judged my who you hangout with. Be nice and friendly, talk to all and find out who you are comfortable with. Then find out what kind of person they are. If they are of your same morals, you will just click.
