These people in my neighborhood have some issues that warrant my attention. They have these petty problems about other people's homes that has NOTHING to do with them.
They complain if somebody's mailbox doesn't match the color of the home or if the grass is too long, etc. (You know... stupid stuff!)
I have devised a scheme to really upset them. (Let me know what you think or give me a better suggestion!)
I am going to paint the entire outside of my home a neon or glow-in-the-dark yellow and add about 50 spotlights around it (so it really shines real nice). I was also thinking about adding 50-75 pink flamingos for my front yard. Last but not least, I want to add some outdoor speakers that will play a continuous loop of "It's a Small World" 24/7 at a moderate level.
Well, what do you think? Any suggestions?

The pink flamingos idea is pretty good. After all, you can easily remove them if you change your mind. As far as painting your home a ghastly color, are you on crack? Why do that to yourself?
Stick to things you can easily change. Why not paint your mailbox the most hideous color you can imagine? It wouldn't bother you at all but would drive them nuts. They wouldn't be able to look out their window without staring at it.
For the long term, check on your community standards for plantings. You may wish to plant some really tall bushes between your property and theirs to reduce their constant critique of your premises.

You'll end up driving yourself bonkers especially with that last part. Do you really want to hear It's a small world after all, 24/7. Could you live with neon/glow in the dark yellow. You'd be sick of it before the week is up. Also how would you sleep with all those bright lights. You need to think of something a little more subtle. Go for one or two gnomes, the flamingos are a nice touch but 50-75. Hopefully you'll get a better idea from someone here.

I like the way you think. My ideas would include either a large conex storage container or even a drag off trash dumpster or maybe even both. And of course, don't forget the port-a-john. Accessorize these trinkets with a crew of non-english speaking, beer drinking, "work crews" milling about not really doing much of anything would be manditory. Finally, construction noise should only happen between 8:00pm and 6:00am, to beat the heat you know. Now mind you, these will require a remodeling permit, but hey, you were going to fork out some bucks for flamingos anyway.

You don't need to do all that. All you should do is, the next time they come making some comments about how your mailbox should be painted and so on, just tell them its your house and accoridng to your specifications and choice. If they want their suggestions to be implemented, then they should pay you a royalty of $50,000 (or whatever ridiculous amount of money you can think of). When they hear that, they will stop bothering you. To make sure, anytime they do, just tell them "PAY THE ROYALTY OR STOP COMPLAINING!!!"

I think that is a great Idea, before you do that check that you wont be in any violation of a HOA or city code. to get the full effect of the Flamingos make sure to staple their feet to the ground.

if you play the music, the police will issue you a citation for DISTURBING THE PEACE and BEING A PUBLIC NUISANCE! I pay to paint my house & my mailbox, etc ~ and NOT my neighbors, so I could CARE LESS what they think!

I think you are being childish and petty and if you do those things to your house it brings down your property value and all the others around you.
Wanting to protect your property value is not snobby.
