Yes, first remember it in late 87/early 88. One of the programmes I used to watch while doing academic assignments. Loved the song. On a trip home found that the actress who played Lizzie had been interviewed on local radio. Vinegar Vera was fantastic. Didn't Alexandra Bastedo play a part or is my memeory playing tricks (likely)? What about that male (Fletch the letch) who was sent up in their play, "Let's run this prison like it should be run - like a concentration camp"?

My mates and I used to watch Prisoner after the pub. It was quality television with some of the best quotes ever, such as,
"Ya bloody b.itch! Ya put glass in ma bed"
"I'm going Freak hunting"
"She's so up and down we should call her Dunny Seat Davies"
and of course the immortal
"Well bugger me gently!"
Pure class.

Me - Bea Smith was brilliant - a tart with a heart who wasn't averse to using her fist - probably in more ways than one!
