These answers you've gotten are so hilarious the purpose of the thong for athletes is support and comfort plain and simple men that are not athletes gay or straight like to wear them because in their opinion in may make them look sexy, like the way they fit and may think they have a nice sexy tight azz that needs to be shown off.

Male thongs are designed to show off a man's junk without showing it. I think they were orginally designed for male strippers. The jock strap provides support, much like a bra, only smaller.

nope,... straight men who think they are gods gift to women wear those things too.
Athletes who wear jockstraps are just clones, for one some coaches make them, wear them, to fit in. For others who do wear them, you might have noticed they don't have "seats" because individuals who do wear them have the tendancy to break wind unnaturally often, also they don't wipe their bottoms so they leave skid marks on their pants and shorts more often than they reallize. Just watch those jocks, when one cuts a fart - they all bust out laughing.
I prefer my boys to wear briefs or mens bikinis
