There are no good associate degrees to become a orthopedic surgeon. You will first need to obtain a bachelors degree and then apply to medical school. You can take any major, but you will need to meet the basic med school requirements. These include: Biology, Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Anatomy & Physiology, Physics, and Calculus

in case you don't realize, an orthopedic surgeon is training beyond the MD degree. your associate's degree is likely of little consequence. take courses required for the MD admissions and get a 4.0 these will likely be biomedical science majors. transfer after your AA to a BS degree that will help you reach your goal---I suggest a medical technology program---also get a high GPA. volunteer, take the prep courses for the MCATs--make yourself a marketable candidate. Save money. begin to investigate medical schools at least 2 years before you graduate with your BS. be willing to move to whatever school will take you.
