Yes you can.. My mother was always telling me to go on a vacation. Well being a single mom. I told her that was out of the question expense wise.. She passed away- within a short amount of time. I won a raffle ticket .. a trip to go any where in the US. My first reaction was to call my mom (I was soooo excited)- then my next reaction was to cry..because I realized she was gone. But then there was happy tears..because i know deep down she elbowed the right person to give me a paid vacation off..

No, not really. You can be in a state of grief, over the death of a loved one, for example, and still have a moment of extreme happiness (for example, someone says something that reminds you of a funny incident involving the deceased--something hilarious that he/she did), but in that one single moment, you cease being sad. You can be one or the other--emotions change from one second to the next.

Yes, you can be both happy and sad at once such as in being happy to be alive yet sad that a dear friend passed away.
The secret to this is detachment. One is, one accepts, one lives (changes). I am a higher being not tied down to the confines of my daily existence and so aren't we all; realization of a higher self is key.
