Only sell to those people who genuinely want and need insurance.
If your number one concern is the amount of commission you'll earn then you'll be doing neither yourself or your customers any favors in the long run.
Put quality of service above everything else and only ever provide a 110% service. Look after, care about and take a genuine interest in your customers and put their interests above your own.
By doing so then EVERY customer will be a happy customer and they'll stick with you for years and years to come and will be only too happy to recommend you.
This is the philosophy I instigated in my businesses and my brothers business. The result is that we now do no advertising at all and over 95% of our work comes from existing customers and recommendations - we don't have to do anything to get the work it just comes to us.
It's a long term strategy and if you're planning on being in the insurance game for any length of time then it's what I;d recommend.
PS - my businesses include insurance and financial services companies.

Sometimes you have to think about it from a different perspective. A mentor of mine once told me, you can never get what you want unless you help someone else get what they want. He lived that example. He sold title insurance, so he partnered with a local bank and sponsored seminars for the public that showed people how to budget, and buy a house. He helps them get what they want, the people bought a house, and the bank got more loans, and he ultimately got more insurance business.
Be creative.

i am not asking you to take more insurance , i want to show you a way to improve your cover whilst costing less in premiums ,you do want to save money dont you sir?
you are required by law to cover your insurance benifits if you fall ill , whos going to pay your mortgage. we are, if you change your cover to take in this section of your exsisting insurance policy
you wont pay any more than you already do and the benifits will roll in because you are now covered for your health as well as the refrigerator ,you know sir you have as much chance of breaking down as your tv. will that be cash or a check?
remember this every time a client says no ,you are one client closer to saying yes, good luck,LF

just know your products...be prepared for any question. I hate when I ask someone a question and they have to research the answer. So just knowing the answer to all the questions will impress your clients
