Many designers are following the trend now, that you do NOT need to paint all 4 walls.... instead, you paint ONE wall, and its called an "Accent" wall.
To paint a stripe.... paint the whole wall the color that the majority of it will be. Allow this to dry thoroughly.... several days. Then, using a good quality paint tape, pressed firmly on the wall... you can outline where you want your stripe. If its only a few inches wide... then the tape will be a few inches apart... you will be painting between the tape.... so make sure to use a paintin tool small enough to fit. If the 'stripe' is going to be large.... like a foot or wider..... then you could use a roller.
Make sure you wait for the original coat to dry thoroughly tho, or else the tape, will pull the new paint off the wall.
Have Fun!!

use a a tape measure to mark the center of the wall either near the ceiling or the floor.determine the width of the stripe and measure half the distance from your center mark on both sides.example,if you want a 6 in. stripe, you would mark 3 in. from your center on each side.now that you have your marks, take a 4 ft. level and and use it to get a straight/level line from ceiling to floor.using blue painters tape, tape the two lines of your stripe, having the line just show.for best results, put a coat of primer and then the finish coat of brown.
as for the other 3 walls that is going to be a personal call.since using this wall as an backdrop to you bed you may want to paint the other walls an off white/eggshell.i wouldnt use a brite white as you want a subdued feel in the bedroom.good luck and im sure whatever you do will look fine

Pain the most visible color first... light blue... then use painters tape and a level to tape off the strip the size you want it. Then paint within the stripe. Remove the tape after it has dried.
Personally,
I would paint all blue with the stripe all the way around.

Don't use masking tape -- it will never peel off. Use painter's tape. Check the link below from how to do it -- it shows multiple stripes, but just follow the directions and use it for one stripe, instead.
And I agree that it would look better with 4 blue walls and i brown stripe -- otherwise there are two many colors in the room. Good luck!

It would probably look better if all four walls were blue.
