Tina Turner I'd say. She was still touring I believe up to a few years ago.

There are different answers there...depending on who you ask...some folks will say Aretha Franklin, though she is more closely associated with old fashioned R & B....some will say it was Janis Joplin but I suppose that's only a matter of taste...I don't care for Janis Joplin and think she sounds slightly worse than cats mating in the middle of a hot summer night..my vote has to go to Stevie Nicks, who is still rocking out and still as killer as she was when she was younger...and ya know what...I don't consider Elvis to be The King....I never liked his music...I'd rather say that by democratic government The Beatles rule...along with their trusty senators and congressmen in the guise of Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Steely Dan, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, and The Allman Brothers Band...Elvis can't touch any of them...keep on rockin' cause you never get too old to kick some serious tail!

I'd say Wanda Jackson, but Ann Margret was always called the female Elvis, so maybe she is the Queen ...

I agree with Mick R, Janis Joplin.

r0ck_the_L0cks, Blondie was a group, not a person. Debbie Harry is the lead singer, and they are considered punk.
