Thanks everyone.

The flu - a doctor can prescribe Tamiflu if it is early in the infection. If not, lots of clear liquids, Advil or Tylenol for body aches and fever and lots of bed rest.

Stomach infection - nothing by mouth until vomiting stops. After that, clear liquids for the first few hours, then soft foods (mac and cheese, bananas, etc.) for the next 24 hours. A doctor can prescribe Phenerghan. I haven't found anything over the counter to work for vomiting, but Imodium is good for the other. Watch for signs of dehydration, but that's not common in otherwise healthy people that aren't children or elderly.

Throat - If it is strep, a doctor needs to prescribe an antibiotic. If it is viral you can really just treat the symptoms. Gargle with warm salt water, warm liquids, ice cream. Nothing solid that would further irritate the tissues. OTC lozenges can also help.

Insomnia - Aromatherapy, especially lavendar, can be very helpful. Also, make sure that your bed and room are comfortable - not too hot or cold, covers straight, etc.

Hope you all get to feeling better!

I really recommend pushing the liquids with flu. Whatever liquid appeals to that person is a good start when it's really bad, chicken broth is really good especially if it's homemade because the gelatin from the bones leaks out into the broth and is an easy protein and the vegetables release a lot of vitamins into the broth. My mother always started the chicken broth as soon as I started to develop a little appetite.

Tea and fresh ginger are good for stomach illnesses they both help with nausea and the ginger is a great source of vitamin C.

The "infected" throat does worry me. If they have strep it has to be treated with antibiotics or they could get damage to their heart. If it is a kind of continual sore throat it might be allergies of some sort I do not know what "natural" rememdies there are for that. To help the pain there is nothing like a good salt water gargle it relieves the swellling which really helps the pain. Chicken boullion hydrated in warm water may be soothing to a sore throat. Chicken broth may be too especially if you salt it a little. Put some grated fresh ginger in the chicken broth and crushed garlic. That way they are getting some Vitamin C and the garlic does suppposedly have some antibiotic qualities. A tablespoon of fresh lemon juice with a teaspoon of honey is also good. It clears the mucous away gives you vitamin C and some claim that honey has natural antibiotic qualities too.

I have heard that you are supposed to combine turkey and milk to sleep at night. So maybe a turkey sandwich and a glass of milk before you go to bed? They are both supposed to contain Trypotophan or something which is a natural sleep aid the body produces. I have never tried this though so I do not know if it works well. I have tried the other things and found relief.

For the flu: Take Vitamin C, hot tea, aspirin or paracetamol and very important eat chicken soup which will help your immune system.

Stomach infection: Take aspirin and coke, eat zwieback, avoid fatty food, hot tea, best would be chamomile tea and peppermint tea, they both calm down the stomach.

Infected sore throat: there are almost no home remedies in this case, you should see a doctor and he should give you antibiotics

Insomnia: A glass of warm milk. Counting sheep. Or watching political debates in TV. That helps a lot.

This sounds like a day trip to the clinic my friend. "Stomach infection" sounds a little vague but it could be serious. For insomnia try melatonin, it works great. For the sore throat just gargle with salt water and then use Chloraseptic or some similar spray.
The fix for the flu is just fluids and jelllo. Sorry! We're pulling for you!
