I always mute commercials. I wish they would stop already.

That's part of the way they sell the stuff, they annoy you so much you subconsciously remember the product then when you go to the store you may buy it.

Seriously, commercials come on louder that television programs because they use a slightly higher bandwidth as I understand. Since commercial advertisers know no one's going to tune in to a program for the commercials, they add that short, fast burst of volume to draw the viewer's attention -- especially for the visually impaired, who can't see the bright colors and rapid images. By the time your brain slows it down enough for you to understand, BAM! you've watched their commercial and contributed to it "working", even if you didn't actually pay attention.
The higher rated a TV program is, the more advertising costs to be played during that show, and advertisers want the most bang for their buck they can get. So the television industry helps a little with that . . .

I am not sure but I think its because the commercials are locally shown...when the tv show is on your local station is getting a feed from the national station....commercials are mostly local so the will come in better and louder.....but I am not siure....just an idea.....

To get your attention if you are doing something else while the commercials are on. I remember hearing that it was against the law for advertisers to do that but I guess it's not because they do it so often.

The reason its louder its becuz that they just want to get ur attention and so they natrually make it louder so you will look at the screen
