My uncle gave us a car dictionary as a gift when I was like 5 years old. I used to look at the pictures of American cars, especially the Pontiac caught my attention. I asked my mom about it & she said that Pontiac was the most modern-looking and best performing car in the world. That was in the mid 80s when i was living in India.

Just a couple of years back, I moved to the US & to my surprise what I see today - nobody drives Pontiac, everyone is obsessed with the Japanese makes & they all say Pontiac is crap these days and they all discourage me from buying one & ask me to go for a top-class German or a Japanese car.

What happened to Pontiac? Best car in the world in the 70s and 80s to one of the worst in this decade?

Pontiac was one of the brands most hurt by the gas crunches of the '70s. They were associated with gas guzzling muscle cars, and the attityudes of the american buyer changed overnight. They spent many years trying to be everything to everyone, and that clearly wasn't working. I mean, who needs a performance minivan?

Todays Pontiacs are good quality, stylish cars, and the sales numbers are starting to reflect that. While the American market is down overall, Pontiac sales are actually increasing.

The Solstice is impossible to get, the new G6 convertible is a winner, the new G5 looks great, and the classic Grand Prix is a looker with real power. The difference is the power now comes with technology to help efficiency, like the Grand Prix GXPs "Active Fuel Management", which increases the cars MPG by selectively shutting off unneeded cylinders.

Pontiac-was never a General Motors top line of auto, infact it was the General Motors Lower end line of cars
Except for way back in the 60's. In the 60's pontiac had one of the fastest muscle cars of the times,.. the GTO.
people use to re-arrange the letters in PONTIAC to say ANTI COP, Anyway,. look for a classic Pontiac,.. a 65-78 pontiac GTO will turn heads. and out run the young kids today in there japanese and german cars

I have a 1991 Pontiac Bonneville. It's been a pretty good car. It's not flashy or high performing but it gets me to work and back and has made some fairly long road trips. I haven't seen what Pontiac is putting out for cars nowadays, though.

It all depends on who your friends are. Lately the good pontiacs cars are hard to work on. Haven't seen an easy one as of late. And they are pretty much along the same lines as chevrolet, with different badging. Thats kind of why they went to garbage. But is like everyone else, an opinion.

They equipped it for 3 years in hardship-free words till that platform went out of production. VTX - Its nevertheless equipped with the aid of GM and it ought to have value a fortune to construct a plant to make 18k autos a twelve months once you've a plant that has room to construct that automobile because its already progression it. The GTO become in hardship-free words about $35k. That become rather aggressive with different similar autos till sellers further a markup and GM cant administration that. human beings complained the Trans Am become too intense. so as that they make this bland and human beings complained about that too. i imagine the second one and third twelve months ones were tremendous contained in the middle styling. The Camaro will be equipped in Canada clone of the former ones.
