Ok, I have extremely dry skin...I have asked my doctor about it and she says lotion, lotion, lotion everyday..which is fine. But is there a specific kind of lotion that anyone recommends for really dry skin. Its itchy and flaky...not nice and smooth like normal skin lol
Its been this way my whole life...grr...so how do I get the soft smooth womanly skin I desperately want!?...any suggestions would be great!...thank you!

Take a look at your diet. Are you eating healthy, or junk food? Diet plays a HUGE part in how your skin looks. I used to have severe eczema, but now you can't tell simply because I've changed my eating habits. I eat tons more fruit and veggies, and watch my sugar intake (sugar can dehydrate you). Water is also a huge essential to beautiful skin. Try aiming for 3 litres a day. It will cleanse your system of impurities and toxins that sometimes find their way out through the skin. As for lotion, I use St. Ives for severe dry skin. Make sure to apply it directly after a shower so you can get some moisture from the water in there as well! Good luck!

This is something you will need to find out on your own. Each lotion reacts differently with each persons skin. Some may make me clammy but will be perfect for you!

I use Curel. The Ultra healing is nice but can leave a sort of residue on my skin, so just normal or regular is fine for me.

In the past I have tried lots: Victorias secret, bath and body works, the body shop, vasaline, jergens, off or generic brands, aveeno, cetaphil (which is great for the face, not sure about the body) and more...

Seriously- get your thyroid checked, hon.

This can cause drastically dry skin that hardly nothing can moisturize.

You can try some olive oil and a pr of gloves sleep in at night. If that doesnt work- next put vasoline on hands with a pair of gloves... you sleep in the gloves and your hands should soften.

2-3 tblspoons oil in your bath works wonders too, baby oil is great and cheap!

Keri lotion is really great too.
Best of luck to you!

:-)

If you have a Sephora where you live they have a product called Bliss Body Butter. This stuff is great. You pay a little more for it but it's a large tube and you don't need much. You'll catch yourself rubbing your hands together for like 30 minutes. lol And also with Sephora you can sample the stuff before you buy it in case you don't like it. Hope it works :)

Oh and drink tons of water! It really does help.

You must be tired of hearing cream, but chose a cream you really like from bath and body works. I would also look at the ingredients before you perchase the cream because if it has alcahol in it it will dry up yur skin. There also is a body butter at bath and body works that is ment for dry ichy and iritated skin

You need to find lotions that have something other than water as the first ingredient. I'm having that problem on my knuckles and elbows. Vaseline works really well (but is pretty oily and gross to use). What I did was went to my local pharmacy and asked them about it. They were able to point me in the right direction and get me something that would help me out.

Cetaphil for sensative is great drug store brand.

There is a book called "The new beauty" by Rona Berg She recomends is as the best drugstore brand, period.

If your skin is ULTRA dry like lizard dry? try Eucarin, I don't think I have seen a more emolient drug store brand.
