You have a point, but I think ADD is caused by other factors.
In the 50's formula makers were really pushing formula. Young mothers thought it was easier and they were prone to 'keeping up
' with what they thought was modern.
Studies have shown that formula is not the healthiest for babies.
It seems that more children have asthma now than in earlier decades, as well as other problems. Also, many girls seem to enter puberty earlier, which may be linked to the soy (which contains estrogen) used in formulas.
There are many on here that seem to be pro formula, I am not.
I think that if it all possible, every mother should nurse their babies. I can't think of a better use for breasts.

Baby formula is not a drug.
It is baby food.
The causes of ADHD (Attention-Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder) have not been determined. Food addictives and sugar studies have not led to any evidence related to ADHD children. All they can determine is that it often runs in families, so there are likely to be genetic influences.
Babies will continue to have baby formula so their mothers can wean them off their breasts. Cause there ain't nothing worse then a teething baby biting your nipples. Ever had it done to you? I didn't think so. And babies have baby formula when they don't take to their mother's milk for various reasons. Because they are babies and are unable to take to soft baby food yet. People living in poverty or the working poor cannot afford to buy or even rent a breast pump. Depending on circumstances, this money has to be put elsewhere like baby medicine, diapers, clothes, a crib, a stroller and toys. Or put for rent or a mortgage, bills, taxes, food or transportation costs.
You even have to ask your insurance company if it will cover the cost of a breast pump with your doctor's prescription. That is, if you can afford insurance. Have you forgotten how many people rely on food stamps to live? Buying baby formula is alot cheaper than buying/renting a breast pump. Unless you are middle/upper class. Let's not forget how more expensive things are nowadays. The only time that breast pumps are given away at hosptials for free is during a study put on by a research company.
If you have a recipe for baby formula, let's hear it. Let's hear how your formula will "cure" the children of the future from ADHD.
And while you're at it, how about proving that soda is a gateway "drug" for addiction later on in life. Cause if this is the case, let's ban all soda pop cause it will just lead to an addiction filled life. And while we're at it, let's ban candy, chocolate and icecream. Hey, why stop there.....let's ban alcohol and cigarettes. And lottery tickets! Cause gambling can lead to addiction! Let's ban meat because it will turn people into meat addicts. Let's ban all enjoyment from people's lives! Cause baby formula is a drug because "YOU" think so. That makes it true. YEAH, RIGHT!!!!!!
Maybe you should do some research to back up your claim of baby formula being one of the causes of ADHD.
Until then, take your paranoia elsewhere.

baby formula is NOT a drug...it would not be approved FOOD if it was a drug. While i don't think there is a direct link between ADD and baby formula, i do think there is a link between not being breastfed and being prone to sickness.
I was not breastfed and i have cronic headaches and am basically always sick in some way. my brother was breastfed and is never sick. I do think it has something to do with that.
Studies have been done that it is best to keep children on breast milk as long as possible because of the benefits it has over formula.

No, it's not a drug!
It's a simulated version of breast milk. What makes you think it's a drug? If it were, you'd need a prescription from your doctor in order to give it to your baby.
FYI, there was essentially an entire generation of children raised on formula - me and all of my siblings were not breast fed at all. For a while, it was thought that formula was better for infants than breast milk, because of the way it could be nutritionally balanced. All of us kids turned out great...All are educated, intelligent, tax-paying members of society.
Most infants these days are breast fed - those who aren't generally use formula because of a problem with breastfeeding. Sometimes, the mother's milk doesn't come down...sometimes, the baby is allergic to breast milk. Everyone makes the best decisions they can when it comes to raising their kids, and sometimes, formula is the best answer.

are you saying formula is a drug? if that is what you are saying you are insane, no it is not a drug, it is a recognized and approved FOOD for babies. For women who are unable to breastfeed, do you suggest they not have babies at all or let their babies starve before giving them formula. That a little bit silly.
