Since the noise did not occur before you changed the front tire, I would suspect the problem lies there.
1.In the speedo gear that mounts to the tire assembly, there are two little tabs that must be lined up with the two little slots inside the axle slot. These may not be lined up correctly Check that out.
2. The cable itself may not be inserted into the socket on the speedo hub on the wheel all the way. Therefore it may be protuding to far into the speedometer. Check it at the wheel hub for proper depth.
3. Then use a little cable lube on it before reassembly the help it move freely.

Put it together again real carefully, and make sure the cable goes into the little square hole in the connector. Check both ends. If it isn't seated properly it will make noise. Your speedo will work, because of the friction, but may not be accurate. Use the lube specified in the owner's manual or engine oil. WD-40 is too light.

It sounds like you will need to replace the cable. But, there is actually a product made to lubricate the cable, you might just try that first. I believe it is called Cable Lube, and it is made by Dorman Products. Sold in auto parts stores.

They make a product called Dry Slide. You can get it at any M/C parts house. Shake well and lube the cable...no more problem.

i would try to lubricate it a little bit. it may just be that. use some wd-40 or just regular oil and try to get a few drops in at both ends. it may take a while for it to work its way to the problem area. hope that helps.
