Legend has it that the Chevrolet brothers found a similar pattern on the wallpaper of a hotel where they were staying and liked it so much they made it their logo.

One of the first Chevy's ran over an old guy who was wearing a bow tie... the bow tie was all that was found because it was affixed to the front of the car... it looked good and the idea stuck...
