Don't listen to the people that just say you have a high metabolism and you'll never gain weight. There is nothing wrong with being skinny. I used to be 6'5" 155 lbs. I was skinny as hell and I had/have a high metabolism but I was also a runner in high school and had huge quads and hamstrings, washboard abs and a tight ***. Then I went to college and wasn't running anymore and I gained "the freshman 15," meaning fifteen pounds, except I only gained about 10. I started going on bodybuilding forums and whining about how skinny I still was and how high my metabolism was and they told me the only way to gain weight is to force feed yourself even if you don't feel like eating. I did exactly that and it was really hard at first, but if you eat like 5 to 6 small meals a day spaced about 3 hours apart, you will get used to it. If you skip a meal, because of your high metabolism, you will feel hungry. Of course though, if you just eat and eat, you WILL gain weight but you will gain a lot of fat if you are not exercising. So, start doing just basic weight lifts. Bench press works the chest and triceps (back of upper arms), squats work the quadriceps, hamstrings, glutes (butt), and lower back, curls work the biceps (front of upper arms), military press works the shoulders, and don't forget to do crunches (sit-ups basically w/o going all the way up). Run about twice a week to keep fat levels down and forget about anything anybody tells you about supplements for right now, except for maybe a weight gainer which helps w/ us hardgainers (people who have a hard time gaining weight). I recommend Cytosport Cytogainer. It has more than 80 grams of carbohydrates and 56 grams of protein per serving if mixed with milk. It's 98% lactose free, which helps in that it doesn't cause bloating, 96% fat free, and has a total of about 910 calories per serving if mixed with two cups of low fat milk. One more thing. If you're serious about gaining weight, the very first thing you should do is start counting calories. Keep a log of how many calories (just look on the Nutrition Facts of everything you eat) you take in every day. Do that for a week and take the average amount of cals you take in on a daily basis. Add 500 calories to whatever you are currently taking in. If after two weeks you haven't gained a pound or two, add another 500 calories per day. Keep doing that until you notice you are gaining about 2 pounds of weight (hopefully muscle mass) a week. Remember to take in about 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight. So, if you're 160 pounds, that would be 160 grams of protein. It sounds like a lot, but you'll get used to it if you keep at it. Remember too, this all takes time. You don't gain weight overnight. Don't weigh yourself every day. Here is a website for exercises for the body parts you want to build mass on: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/exercises.htm. Good luck! You can do it!

I think it easier for men to gain weight than for woman. I am skinny too but I refuse to go to the gym. And a lot of men like going to the gym. My bf's bestfriend drank weight gainer and went to the gym and he gained weight he looks way better now he was too skinny. Good luck!

You need to take a weight gaining supplement. the best place to get them is at rite aid or a cvs pharmacy. just ask the pharmacist what type of supplement would benefit you to gain weight. Also, eat at least 2200 calories a day. Ensure is also a very good way to gain weight. My dad has cancer and they gave it to him to help him gain weight. The ensure and the vitamin supplements are your best bet. Good Luck. =)

it means you are healthy because you have a high metabolism rate means your body is working fine but some people if they eat a lot they get big because of slow metabolism rate and it takes time for their body to burn down on the food they eat so their body is working a bit slow

Talk to you doctor if you want to gain weight. My friend ate lots of eggs and took two tablespoons of peanut butter everday to gain weight for hockey. You could try that but you'll get sick of peanut butter.
