If a black cat crosses your path, bad luck. If you break a mirror, even if it is just a crack, 7 years bad luck. If you take off one shoe without taking off the other, bad luck. If you lose a testical in skiing accident, bad luck.

Don't step on a crack or you'll break your mother's back.....but nowadays the kids say don't step on a crack or you'll fall and break your back.
So you have to walk around watching for cracks in the sidewalk and while doing that you just might walk under a ladder or miss the black cat that is about to cross in front of you and those are bad too.
