I got home from work and went to sit on my patio swing and noticed a straight, diagonal burnt line in my patio swing. It is metal with a plastic mesh cover and cushion. It faces my back door and windows. Why would this happen and how do I prevent it from happening agian?

Side note: It was 105 degrees F yesterday.

I've uploaded photos of it and the back of my house to my website. See if you can figure it out.

Cigarette, maybe? Could have been tossed and blown by wind.

Any "filters" around?

The angle of the burn-mark in reference to the horizon is characteristic of the landing pattern of a small Rigalean spacecraft. These beings are little more than 3-5" tall, and their craft are often only four feet long, and sort of umbrella-shaped. At take-off and landing the combustion propellor system leaves burn marks just like those.

The way to be sure is to check your fridge; if there is milk missing (especially 2%), it was probably Rigaleans.

SPONTANEOUS HUMAN COMBUSTION!!! no but it got your attention didn't it? If you look at the photos it looks as if a high energy out put burned it. It is going from the bottom to the top ion a streight line. look for a reflective concaved surface in the direction the burn came from

Sounds like the sun either reflected or refracted on or through something shiny. High temperature might have helped, Cool fluke.

Sounds like the sunlight got to it ... do you have any prism style wind chimes nearby? If there was no wind they could have focused light for a while. Good luck finding the source, MAC
