Sometimes right before a fight, if I'm by myself and its on the phone or something, or even after a fight... instead of exploding and making it worse... I write everything down that's bothering me. Or If I'm really angry at someone, I'll write them a really mean letter expressing my self... and then hold on to it for a day before mailing it to make sure I didn't just ruin something I was overexagerating about. I never end up sending them. Does anyone else do these types of things to stop from fights?

oh yeah.. writing is one of the BEST ways ever to diffuse your anger...u can go back and look and see if u make sense, or if it was mostly "hot air".

i usually write in my journal *only* when i'm angry! haha and sometimes happy..usually angry tho. i have a whole list (i wanna write a book someday!) of what NOT to do to your children. i love my mom, but she is very irrational, unfair, closed minded, etc. especially now, when i'm older but still living there, it's really tough.

anyways, kudos to you for finding a great way to get your anger out AND take a step back and reassess your feelings in a non-violent manner. keep it up~

Nope. If you have to explode on someone then you do it!!! Don't hold all that in because that will just run you crazy. If you have something to say to someone go ahead and say it because I'm sure if they have something to say to you they will say it. Many people would think of the way you are handling it as being coward, but then again, you don't worry about what people think either. All I have to say is, you do what you think is the best thing to do. If you are not a fighter, then you continue to do it the way you are.

Yeah that does help, and it saves a lot of bad arguments!!!!!!! I've done that a few times, and I'm glad I did, b/c I would've ended up regretting what I wanted to say!!!! A lot of people do that!
