I am a Florida resident. I live in the Tampa Bay area. I moved here from Wisconsin about 5 years ago. Everyone in Wisconsin generally drives 5 miles per hour over the speed limit at all times. They also make good quick turns. I find myself caught in traffic alot here because two or three people drive side by side going 5 or 10 miles under the speed limit. You see the left lane get plugged up alot down here. Creates rolling roadblocks. All major law enforcement associations wanted to make it a law that the slower drivers must give way to faster ones in the left lane. To prevent swerving cars and road rage. It did not pass thanks to Jeb Bush.

I do live in Florida people here also can't drive in the rain, turn left from the right hand land and right from the left hand lane (with no turn signals), and when they are not turning they will drive with there signal on for approximately 4.6 miles. I feel your pain. And don't think that if Charlie Crist gets elected that we will get any relief from it then either.

Do they have the death penalty for speeding in Florida? Just about everyone drives about 5 to 10 mph over the speed limit. Speed limits haven't been raised since the 30s. With most cars now having computerized engines and anti-lock brakes, speed limits should be raised by 10 mph on all open thoroughfares. Also, driver's licenses should be graded in that those who do not drive well should have restrictions, like no-freeway-access, night-driving, etc.

I dont' know where YOU'RE driving in Tampa Bay, but I do 5-10 mph over (depending on the traffic) and they go by me like I've PARKED!!

Although, I admit, since the gas prices have gone up...the last 4 months...I have seen more people driving more slowly.

I live in Central Florida, have for 15 years. I noticed that old men wearing hats are usually the worst, followed by Candians and then followed by anyone over the age of 70. I think they can't see and are not used to driving faster then the horse and buggy can go. They also buy huge cars that they can't see past the hood. Also, the older generation isn't used to them fancy things called mirrors, cause they never look in them to see if anyone is behind them or next to them!!! I can't tell you how many times I have heard of people being sideswiped by the old farts who never looked in the mirror!! Remember that deputy that got hit, the one who was on Oprah? The old lady that him died before she went to trial.
