There is some (limited) evidence nitrogen leaks more slowly, but this may be pure conjecture. The greatest advantage is to whoever is charging the $5-10 per tire, since before they were only getting a quarter for all four tires and the spare!

Nitrogen does not lose pressure the same as air. It will maybe and I mean maybe change 1 psi through 50 degress where as air will change 5-10 psi

You get about 1.5 more miles to the gallon compared to regular air.
It also doesn't lose pressure as fast as air does.
Only downside it is about 5 dollars per tire, while air is free.

the big advantage is that the miolecules are larger...which actually reduces the risk of rim leaks..
