My boyfriend and I had sex after having just got back together. This was two days ago. I wasn't on the pill anymore because I quit taking it when we broke up. We used a condom but the condom broke. It's too early to take an at home pregnancy test as my period isn't for about 2 more weeks. I have a wedding this weekend and was really looking forward to drinking with my friends and family. I have heard this would not harm my baby (if i even AM pregnant) because it's too soon. Is this true?

I suggest not drinking if you care what happens to your child if you are pregnant.

The littles bit of alcohol can cause fetal alcohol syndrome and it does not matter how little time yo uare along it can cause it at any time.

My mother is an OBGYN doctor and she had a woman who drank a half a glass of whine at her friends daughters wedding and her son was born a frew weeks ago with fetal alcohol syndrome.

Please do not listen to any of these people saying it is okay because the fact is they are not actually educated or qulaified to say it is okay unlike I am because my mother is a OBGYN and when I was pregnant I was 8 weeks when my grandma got married and I asked if I could have a small drink and she said no the littles drink could harm my baby.

Don't drink, period. Who ever told you or any pregnant woman that taking a drink is OK because it is to early to damage your unborn child is either ignorant, stupid or a liar. And this person is just plain dangerous.

You can go out and get hammered with your family and friends anytime...anytime when you are not pregnant,

Is placing the health of your child or even potentially endangering the babies' health worth a couple of hours of fun with your friends? And if you do I suggest that you are not ready for a mature relationship let alone becoming a mother.

This is not true. Granted a lot of people drink/smoke/use drugs before they know they are pregnant and the baby comes out fine. Drinking heavily in early pregnancy can cause miscarriage however. Also there is no set limit on how little alcohol it takes to cause fetal alcohol syndrome. If you think you are pregnant and want the baby don't drink or just have a small glass of champagne if you don't want to attract attention to yourself.

Drinking alcohol during pregnancy can cause physical and mental birth defects. Each year, more than 40,000 babies are born with some degree of alcohol related damage. Although many women are aware that heavy drinking during pregnancy can cause birth defects, many do not realize that moderate—or even light—drinking also may harm the fetus.

When a pregnant woman drinks, alcohol passes swiftly through the placenta to her baby. In the unborn baby’s immature body, alcohol is broken down much more slowly than in an adult’s body. As a result, the alcohol level of the baby’s blood can be even higher and can remain elevated longer than the level in the mother’s blood. This sometimes causes the baby to suffer lifelong damage.

If you are pregnant you don't need to drink. I found out that I was pregnant a week after I had sex. In early pregnany drinking is worse because that is when the baby is developing the most.

I drank the whole time I was pregnant because that was before the doctors came up with the fact that alcohol was harmful to the fetus. My baby was normal, healthy and above average. If you're afraid.; drink Motts Apple Juice instead of champagne.

It MAY harm the baby...But I've always heard "Don't worry if you had a drink or two before you knew you were pregnant..." in various books and websites...
So, if you think it's worth it, drink, but very little!

Don't drink if you suspect. You can still have a good time without drinking - that's been kinown to happen. Even if you aren't pregnant, women of childbearing age should be taking folic acid supplements anyway so take some.

If you think you might be pregnant, please do not drink for the sake of your baby!!! EVen if it is too early to tell, it could still hurt the baby. The early stages are a very vital time in a babies life. Dont listen to ignorant people who think its okay.

I work with several children with fetal alcohol syndrome and while this is thought to only occur with a moderate amount or more of alcohol-why chance it! Alcohol is a poison and the first few months are when everything forms.
