The most embarrassing outfit I ever wore was when my mum dressed me up as a ball of wool for a fancy dress party 000h.. the humiliation for a seven year old. Wrapped in skeins of wool with two knitting needles stuck through my hair! My little sister got dressed up as a fairy, no wonder we argued as we grew up!

My mum dressed me up in an outfit with bright red corduroy trousers, bright red corduroy waistcoat to match and a cream shirt when I was 7.

I still have nightmares about it.

I bought some dark black jeans when I was 16 (1980), and sewed the legs up so they were skin tight.
2 years later when they had literally worn out, my mum admitted that they were actually purple (I am colour-blind).
I had worn them everywhere, along with a velvet jumper that was 2 tone, one arm and diagonally across was yellow, then other arm and diagaonal was maroon.
NICE

i was put to school with a duffel coat, mittens attached to each other by wool threaded through the sleeves a balaclava which was made of purple wool, same wool was also used to make my jumper, under my tweed trousers i wore thick green tights, my mum said it was to keep me warm, what she didn't realise was that i had PE that day!!!! you could imagine my joy as my fellow male classmates saw my nice 'classy tights' and you could imagine my further joy as the girls were also informed of this fashion accessory, this still haunts me today 22 years later
my mum laughs her *** off when i bring it up,
yeah i cant stop laughing too :(
