If your employer owes you money, he can't just decide not ot pay you. Is the money for wages owing? Then go to your Labor Board to file a complaint. Make sure you have all documentation such as, your last paycheck, a written explanation of the monies owed to you (including the dates and shifts you worked to earn the money). If there were witnesses to any statements he made, have the person (if they will), write and sign something with that info on it.
Good luck

March right on over to your Department of Labor and file a complaint. In CT it would be to the wage and work place standard department. That is against the law. File for unemployment A.S.A.P.!

Contact your local Wage and Labor commission, file a claim there against the employer for unpaid wages. No cost to you.

It sounds like a case for small claims court. Make sure you document everything (days worked, etc.) and make sure that if you have witnesses who can verify your story that you bring them along to testify, if need be.

Documentation is key to winning. Make sure you have proof of the work you did, so the judge can rule in your favor.

Good luck. Your former boss sounds like a schmuck!
