I was in Buffalo, New York one winter and some kids put some snowballs on the snowman. It was funny.

He's made of snowballs (3, I think?), and since it's not in the song, those are the only ones he has.

I would say since he's a man snow dude. I also believe that he likes to hit kids with them as they walk by, thus starting a snowball fight. The kids really do love to play with him.
