As an overall enthusiasts car, Porsche is the best. It's fairly reliable and won't embarass you. In appearance, the 911 in particular is one of the most beautiful cars of all time. They're easy to drive around town and these days, they're no longer a terror on corners or in bad weather. They're not as reliable as a Lexus/Toyota but they're infintely more rewarding to drive. They're not as unreliable as a BMW M series car (I had a 2001 that cost me thousands to maintain even though I put less than 3,000 miles a year on it and babied it like you wouldn't imagine). They're not as family oriented as a wagon or an SUV. They're not as expensive as a Bugatti, Lamborghini, or a Ferrari. They are balanced with the right amount of everything for those looking for performance, style, engineering, and price retention. I needed a 4 door so I had to compromise and get an Audi but if I didn't... I'd have a Porsche in a heartbeat.

Depends on who you ask some might say Toyota is #1, some chevy, some honda, maybe even Ferrari depends on who you ask. You have to remember the higher end the car is in general the better treatment you shall recieve. Toyota may list toward the top but I imagine if that Porsche customer were treated the same way as the Toyota customer who was happy he/she would be quite angry...

I think Volkswagen Motor Group (They still own Porsche, also Bugatti, Lamborghini, Seat, etc.) is probably the best overall motor company by far. Not only in terms of customer service, car performance (the Bugatti Veyron 16/4 is the worlds fastest production car now), but also horizontal AND vertical company expansion, variety of vehicles (Seats are sub-compact inexpensive cars, while Bugattis and Lamborghinis are fetching half a million a piece). Porsche is part of the worlds best motor group, but not the stand-alone best car in the world.

not necessary the best overall but,
in LA Times a report showed they had the least amount of trips to the dealership in the first year of ownership
toyota was like 3rd , chevy 4th and chrysler 5th
just so you know, the more expensive does not mean the most realiable. Range Rover came in last, not just luxury cars but last overall the companies selling in the US

just a correction to a previous poster: Porsche IS NOT OWNED by VAG. they actually just bought 25% of VAG. although their leadership is/was related (ferdinand peich, old VAG president, was cousin or second cousin to ferdinand (ferry) porsche, and they worked at porsche for a long while.), until just a few months ago havent been together financially, and porsche still isnt owned by VW.
