OK I know what an IP address is so please don't give me links or explain what it is. My question is if you create a new account onto your computer will it have a different IP adress. You know how you can have several different accounts on your computer, does each one have a different IP address?

No, an IP address is given to your COMPUTER(S) not to your ACCOUNT.

A static IP address is a number (in the form of a dotted quad) that is assigned to a computer by an Internet service provider (ISP) to be its permanent address on the Internet.

In the static IP addresses the same numeric address is always associated with the same computer(s). When you connect your IP solution provider through a dial-up or dedicated connection without using static IP addresses, you are dynamically assigned a numeric IP address which is used for the duration of the connection.

Your Internet Protocol address is assigned to your computer either by your ISP or your router, if you are behind one. The only way to get a new IP address is to renew/release (if you have a dynamic one) or to change it in your Network Settings (if you have a static IP, which you probably don't). Individual user accounts on a single system cannot have different IP addresses.

No, creating a new account on your computer will not generate a new IP address. In general, an IP address is assigned to each computer.

The IP address is linked to the network adapter in your computer. So if your computer has two network adapters, then it can have 2 IP addresses. 1 IP per network adapter. It has nothing to do with your "account".

If you have a broadband connection, the service provider usually gives you only 1 IP address and you can purchase more IP addresses or you can have a broadband router to give out IP addresses on your local network.

No, your computer will always have the same IP address, unless you get your internet from a LAN, that gives you a random IP address every time you log on.

I believe that the IP address is arbitrarily assigned until you change it explicitly.

Creating a new account will probably not change the IP address.

IOW, I don't know, but I hope you get an answer that makes sense.
