Is there a reason they train so far away from Dallas?

Are there any other teams that don't train at "home"?

the temperature is a huge part of the reason. however in past years they have held training camp in san antonio in an indoor field. they are actually going back to san antonio for the next 5 years. they had contract issues before with sa, so they took their camp to oxnard. they are leaving oxnard for a couple of reasons. one is jerry jones knows he stands to make more money selling merchandise at training camp if fans can come out and see the 'boys practice. the more fans, the more money. another reason is that oxnard is developing at a fairly rapid pace and nearly everything with exception of the actual field is becoming houses and residential communities.

Almost all the pro teams train somewhere else for preseason. Packers for example at St Norbert college. Often they go to where the temps may be a bit cooler and to get away from everyday distractions. This is also true of other pro sports. Red wings have camp in Traverse City Michigan instead of in Detroit, etc etc

The Cowboys have trained in California for years. They used to train at a Lutheran College in Cali. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers train at the Disney Complex in Orlando, 80 miles from Tampa. I think the teams do it to get everyone away from home and concentrate exclusively on football. They live together and work together to build team chemistry.

It's 102 degrees in Dallas right now and 72 in Oxnard. Does that answer your question?

Because the players are known in Dallas and can't buy the good drugs there. In Cali no one cares who you are.... plus you get the good stuff there.... Don't forget Balco is in Cali.... Roids are hard to transport.

They go there cause its more low key, and the temps are a lot cooler than in Irving, TX. The main reason is the temp difference.

Here is why-to get them away from their daily routine-family, friends, social settings, so they can focus on one thing-FOOTBALL.
