Being African American myself, I've often pondered this as well. For some unforeseen reason, a lot of black people feel like the world owes them something. The vast majority think that just because slavery happened to our ancestors that things should be freely given to us, their descendants. They have to realize, however, that nothing is free. There were times when black people couldn't learn to read, write, get an education, vote, own land, etc. Those were the people who fought for the right to do those things. They paved the way for this generation and for future generations, BUT a lot of African Americans feel as if the fight has already been won and that we are to just sit back and wait on someone to give us the grand prize. PLEASE, those who hate on their own kind are only jealous and envious at the fact that hundreds of years later there are still black people in this world that are willing to fight the good fight and persevere through the struggle to make it in this world WITHOUT looking for a hand out.

African Americans seem to find it harder than any other race (with the exception of native Amerindians) to climb the ladder.
Because of that, I suppose the jealously is more intense when someone of that 'pool' does succeed.
Although the US is a rainbow nation, the model of success is the white Anglo Saxon protestant and once a black gets on that road, there is no turning back. Those who are left behind will be resentfull.

Thank you! You are so right about that! A lot of our people don't like us to get ahead! A lot of black people like to start fights with you for know typical reason just to make you feel less than that other person! I mean you should be proud that your own people want to become something in life and a lot of people can look up to you for that! you should be grateful, not hateful! That was a good question!

Since I'm white, my *guess* would be because generally the black people who "make it" grow up and move on and get an education and become more refined and well spoken. They don't stick with the ghetto/black mentality of poor grammar, jeans around the hips, big gold chains, ebonics, etc.
I've seen black guys make fun of another black guy on the train before. The one who was being made fun of looked very distinguished...nice suit, expensive brief case, well spoken, etc. They were pointing and laughing and calling him wanna be whitey, or something like that.

its just plain ignorance......so much ignorance...I had to move away from my predominantly black city that I grew up in and move 2500 miles away to a more diverse crowd because all the black people I knew were hating on my success as a black woman because I was focusing more on than applebottom jeans and how big is my azz..u know....
I CANT STAND ignorant black folks ...really...its sad....and as much as I hate to agree...everytime you have a large crowd of decent folks..say a state fair or something ...there has always got to be some group of blacks folks that is loud and obnoxious..I MEAN DAMN!!...can some of please learn how to act civilized in a crowd.
Now I have never nor will I ever pretend to be white, or "act" white, I stay true to myself but black people must learn that there is a time and place for everything...a time to act "ghetto" and a time to act "like you got some damn sense and/or be professional and speak ENGLISH not that ebonics crap..u feel me.....I can get ghetto just like the next person..but like I said you must learn when and where to act like that....in PUBLIC is not the time nor the place.....

Simple. Jeolousy. It's the illusion of you have something that I want but can't have when in actuality you can have that but are just too lazy or too fearful to go and accomplish the same thing.

My best friend was jealous I got married before her. All her pics of the wedding that she is in are of her looking to the ground about to bust into tears and not tears of joy.
