Okay .. lets tell you an arabic story .. it is long .. wana hear it ? (yes )
Okay .. i was sure a cute one like you will agree ... here is the story in brief

One day Mr.Guha Wanted to Go to the Souk ( Market in english ) to sell some stuff With his Young son .. he took his donkey and his luggage and his son .. he putted his luggage on the old donkey and walked .. He passed by some ppl .. they said : What a stupid man .. he walks and let the luggage get a ride .. Guha thought for a while then decided to give the luggage for his son and he ride the donkey .. Then after a while he passed by another group of people .. they said : what a mean man he let his son walk and carry the luggage ... He thought for a while then .. he made his son get on the old donkey and guha carried the luggage and walked .. then they passed another group of people .. they said : what a mean Young boy .. he let his old father carry and walk .. Then guha had an idea .. they both can get on the donkey with the luggage so people wont talk ... they did so .. then they passed by another group and they said : what a mean man and his son ... how can this young donkey handle both of them and luggage ... So both of them got down and walked by the donkey .. when they arrived the market .. people kept on laughing at them .. the stupid Man and his son .. they had a donkey with no one on it !!!!! ..
So .. however hard you try to make ppl around you happy you cant . you have to choose some of them .. while others can be atmost partially happy .. but .. it is impossible to get everybody happy

Do you want people to be happy around you or to love you?
The two are not the same things, as people who love you, will do regardless whether you make them 'happy' or not. And people who don’t or cannot will do so as long as you keep their egos satisfied.
Though that is your strategy in life you are not only bound to be severely disappointed by relationship but also continue disrespecting yourself. You are worthy of love and respect just the way you are, and not when and only when you can make others happy.
So for a change start focusing on making yourself happy and joyous, because when you really are so, people will around you will automatically feel that around you, as just as happiness, love and joy is an energy and not an act you need to put up to get love. That would be manipulation of others energy, and not genuinely caring about their happiness. People who are happy will remain so always and those who aren’t will always find reasons to be unhappy, find your reasons to be happy and soon you will start attracting happy people around you and unhappy people will get bored and move away to make way for better people.
So, if you think you can make people in your life happy enough so that they can come to like you and love you, you are not really happy with yourself them. First find peace and love within, then automatically you will start meeting people who will love you for who you are, because you do the same.

You cant make everyone around you happy at the same time as they all want different and contrary things. If the group is small and extremely like minded you might have a chance but in that case there would still be one person unhappy

Because, everyone is happy because of different things. It is impossible to make everyone happy because of that detail. For instance, if you try and make everyone happy, you yourself may be made unhappy, distroying the whole everyone is happy thing. Or say, you have three children and don't have time to go to two places. One wants to go to Taco Bell and two want to go to Mcdonalds, you'd probably go to Mcdonalds to make the majority happy, because one, that Mcdonalds happens to be 10 minutes away from the house, while Taco Bell is 16. Thus the Taco Bell kid doesn't get his taco, and is stuck with soggy french fries. It just isn't possible.

Why should it actually be your resposibility to keep everyone around you happy....unless you are a court jester...surely personal happiness comes from within. I don't think anyone can be happy 100% of the time.....be happy with yourself and hopefuly some of that might rub off on those around you.

No, why would anyone try to do that? There is more to life than one person...you...things you can't fix or control. There is no way and no reason to try or even think about trying. Just treat people as good as you can and hope they don't do something mean back to you. That's out of your control too. Be happy!

It's not even a worthwhile goal. You need to surround yourself with peeps that you like, but even then there will be clashes.
Learn to center yourself and come to know you, who you really are. Be yourself. Others need to do the same.
You can't make anyone mad, sad, ugly, strong, wrong or happy. You can't make anyone anything. You can only change yourself.

Suppose a dog stops wagging its tail when its Masters "Sees" the dog seeing him ?
Keeping everybody happy involves similar wagging....
But if a person is loving, and all others around CAPABLE of understanding, then wagging is not needed. This person happens to make others happy, no need to 'keep' them happy !
