you put the location of the file in your address bar, hit "go" and then File > Save page as...

Sometimes if you go into the "temp files" area in your computers hard drive you can find the files by looking for the extension you mention. Another option is the video downloader software - free to download (videodownloader.net) but this will save files as .flp formats. You can play these formats in programs such a VLC player (again free, search in google for it) these can then be converted using a program such as riva producer.
Alternatively you could email the website and ask for the video, sometimes it works!

In IE, find the link and right click "save target as" the file. In FireFox, go into Tools-Options-Downloads-Download Actions and set the file extension .swf to be downloaded to the desktop. If you don't have FireFox, I would strongly recommend downloading it. (www.getfirefox.com)

Use a download manager like GetRight and paste the path to the .swf file in there to download it.
