In as much as we only come to be born because of events untold leading up to our conception, (the hundreds of thousands of years of history and evolution along with the outcome of the behaviors of our more recent ancestors), then it could be argued that we were predestined to exist. However, there are multitudes of factors which enable chaos to interrupt a pre-determined path.
Cause and effect is the only 'destiny' I can subscribe to but I don't think we have had our lives predetermined by some higher force. Surely that would mean we are all merely puppets with no free will whatsoever.

Ahhhhhh!
I just had a flash of insight...

I believe it is real because i have an ability called Precognition, where i am able to see the future in my dreams but only remember i dreamed it right before it happens. This leads me to think that "God or a greater being" has planned every action and result of everything and i am able to see some moments. Even though we have the feeling of free choice, it has been planned that we were to do that. Even when you try to do something different to defy destiny, that action was planned as well. It really is just an opinion because not everyone has Precognition or a similar ability and it would be very difficult to show proof of how it works. If you have it, then you might relate, but if not, you can always search the subject. Thanks for reading :)

All people have biological predispositions and those predispositions can either be expressed or not expressed, depending on environments. Of course, because we are human beings, we also have control over and often can choose our environments. So, yes, in a true biological sense there really is such a thing as a destiny.

Yes, exactly what the first answerer stated. And also, alot of fortune tellers(more than 90% of them) are just in it for the money and the attention, they really dont know how to tell fortunes, they cant really tell your future, you might as well just go to a chinese restaraunt and crack open a fortune cookie, you will get the same exact reliability that a fortune teller will give you, fortune tellers have no physchic gift, you are the only one that can truly form your future and you're the only one that can decide and tell your future no one else can.
