For the game, for consumers, any effects, direct or indirect. I know it's illegal in some places.

I don't see anything wrong with scalping. It is economics in its purest form. Classic supply and demand. How does one get in if all the tickets are sold out? Buy from a scalper. Sure, he'll have to pay a higher price, but demand determines what the value will be. Just like oil and energy.

Scalping still exists because people are willing to pay a higher price to get in. And again, it offers a way into a venue when all box offices are sold out. I would rather pay a little more money than wait 2 days in line (or more) just to wait for the box office to open.

I saw the 49ers/Cowboys NFC championship game at candlestick park back in the 90s, and there was no way I could get in except from a scalper. While I was in Paris, the French Open was on, but there was no way I could have gotten tickets that late. I think you have to preregister for a year to get on a lottery drawing of some sort. I bought a ticket from a scalper and it was the best tennis I'd ever seen. (Also went to Wimbledon and various other ATP tournaments).

While in college, students slept at the arena box office waiting for a chance to get into a lottery of a very small amount of tickets. Do the math: 35,000 students, 1,000 lottery winners. I couldn't even get tickets to my own college's games. Luckily, scalpers were around to let me in on college action I would always have regretted not seeing. (we went to the final four that year.)

It should be illegal. It prevents some people from entertainment that they otherwise would have been able to afford. It gives people the "impression" that the performer is getting all the proceeds. It really makes me angry! I understand how it happens though. I just do not agree with it. It is not illegal in Texas, there are loopholes.

Besides being illegal it drives up the prices of tickets. This happens because the venue where this is taking place has to add more security to try and catch you. Also by scalping the tickets you force Musicians to take measures to avoid this. Like restricting ticket sales etc. And lastly People who really want to see this concert won't pay the prices to go see it.

So you buy up tickets and then sell them at outrageously high prices to people who are desperate to get in because all the tickets are sold out?

Ok let me think really hard- ohhh, I have a small headache. Yes, that is a very good, nice thing to do. It is useful to society. You will go straight to heaven.

I think it's greedy. It's actually legal here in TN though. I would never buy from a scalper.

Ticket prices are already high enough. Why screw other fans even further.
