how can i persuade my mum n dad to lemme hav a piercing?!!?

i realllly reaaally want some snake bite piercing for my 14th birthday, but i wont b aloud so i only want 1 really small lip ring, my dads gettin ok with it, but my mums really stricy. i'v heard i can when i'm 14 aparantly. does anyone know how i can sway them?

well first of all, NEVER EVER go behind your parents back and get it done, this will only lead to huge arguments with your parents and leading you into lots of trouble. (and never pierce yourself, since in most piercing shops you need a parent there with you if you're under 18 or 21)

secondly, since you're only 14, maybe think it over if you really want a lip piercing (think it over for at least a month or so) and if you still want one after that, then you know that you're not doing something that you'll regret.
also, if you have a job, some workplaces don't like people working for them to have facial piercings (just a little piece of advice)

What I would do if I were you, (this is from past experience), is to openly discuss it with your parents, and say that you will think it over and get back to them after you made your decision. Then later when you go talk to them show how responsible you are by maybe suggesting to pay for it yourself or something similar to it (like doing research and finding a good clean piercing studio).

showing patience in getting your piercing shows that you respect your parents and show that you are responsible and serious about what you are doing.

first of all you have to ask yourself why you want this piercing... i know its real fashionable at the moment... are you doin it for yourself? or is it because you mates have one? dont rush into piercing... i am nearly 18 and have 16now... you have your whole life to decide how you want to modify your body... you also have to think throo mindin if you take it out and it scars your face... i have a few piercings that will scar when i take them out... but i thought it throo and figured that i didnt mind really. i think your folks are just being protective over you... my mum doesnt like my piercings very much but she understands im old enough to make sensible decisions... have you had piercings before? maybe you could start with a few in your ears and stuff... there are some kool ones like the anti tagus and the orbital... sit down and think hard about the reasons behind you wanting this piercing soo bad... if you decide that its because YOU want it for yourself then explain this to your parents. but evn if they dont let you you can wait until ue 16and your dont need parental permission... sorry if i lectured you but piercing is such a personal thing to do to your body and ppl dont take it seriously enough.

Depending on where you live a lot of professional artists will not pierce someone that young, some allow 16 with parental permission, some 16 with out, others won't do anything to anyone under 18.

there may be no swaying them, but you can tell them this:
you're only young once, a piercing can ALWAYS be taken out, it's better you do this as a kid & get the need out of your system, so that when you grow to an adult you'd have already tried it & you can do other things to your appearance that they would define as more "socially acceptable". i don't think there's anything wrong with looking like a punk kid, if you are a punk kid. it gets ridiculous when you look that way and you're in your 40's.

i assume you mean the venoms in your tongue, but you're settling for a lip ring. most piercers won't pierce at that age, and the ones that do require both parents present. a lot of piercers don't start until 16, and still require one or both parents. if you don't know the reasons as to why they should let you have one, then they shouldn't let you have one. and you can't persuade them if you don't even know why you want it. if you want it because it's cool, then you're sol because most parents won't allow that. just wait until you're 18, you may not even want it by then, or want something different.

Prove that you are a responsible and mature person. Go through all the possible consequences and come up with a convincing argument for your parents (not 'because it looks cool)'--ask why they won't let you and find a counterpoint or a compromise.

well...youre already 14 and u have a lip piercing....that is really pushing it with your parents already. You probably wont be able to persuade them unless u sneak out and do it so i'd just give up. even if they say yes, don't do it. people will think youre some kind of punk

you cant sway them... and you shouldnt try to... they know wuts best for you... and this is comeing from a 15 year old who only has two holes in each ear... wait till your 18 and see if you still thinks its a good idea
