I am planning to start a carrer in software, my friends suggested me Oracle 9i to start with ( as I tried .net and it had concepts of c and c ++ which I am not aware of)...do you think taking up Oracle 9i and then doing a OCP certification is a suggestable option? Any other suggestions please. Please note that I have no knowledge of programming languages....

Its good to say that you are on the correct path. But mind you before you step into the software career please be aware of ur strenghts and weaknesses.
If u r good enough in coding, u can opt for C ,C++ and later on with JAVA.
But incase at any point if u feel u r weak in coding u can jump for Data base such as ORACLE.
Apart from that you can go for networking, Embedded programing ..... etc
Finally if u dont find any suitable options u can go for testing.

Your best bet is to do a crash course in J2EE.
Plenty of such courses are available which even promise significant help in placements.

J2EE plus knowledge of database is best bet.
