You CAN use it. Chevy used 2 different types of block the passenger cars and light truck used mostly 2 bolt main blocks and the heavy duty applications used 4 bolt main. The difference is the number of bolts holding each journal on the crankshaft (2 or 4). There can be some minor differences in acouple of areas but the block serial number, or the VIN number from the vehicle it came from and a good Chilton's repair manual will give you specifics.
In general you can use it. Get your machine work done at a quality shop that has experience in "rat" engine blocks.
Good Luck !!!! If you set it up properly that baby will really run........

Yes, the 427 truck engine is known as the "Tall Deck" engine. You will have to use spacers to use a 427 passenger car manifold including most of the performance manifolds available. The deck height of the cylinder area is taller than the regular 427.

For the most part serious street rodders don't like the 427 truck motor, and it will carry about 50% of the added value a true 427 would.

dont buy it, the only thing useful is the crank and rods, the truck block is taller and useless. been there before. this is of course when you say truck you mean a big truck like a two ton or bigger. most 3/4 tons and half tons used the same engine as the car its only when they got into the bigger trucks did they change the block because they needed more torque and less rpms.
