Well its question is tricky because you didn't say your age.
If you're still a young teen most likely you're a virgin. If you're still a virgin the reason your mom still wants you to wear pads is because inserting a tampon into our vagina will break your hymen (pop yo r cherry). She most likely wants you to save that for when you lose your virginity.
But if you decide to wear tampons they are safe. Try slim fits or any other plastic applicator ones (the applicator cannot be flushed) Also, try inserting them standing up it's less painfull.

I don't think it's very fair of her.. perhaps she's had bad experiences from tampons and is just looking out for your best interest. You are your own person and try to talk to your mom in a mature way (no screaming, kicking, or stomping off)

You can get toxic shot sydrome from leaving tampons in to long, that is probably why she wants you to use pads. A girl in my high school died from it. It is a good decision. Your mom is only looking out for you.

first of all...i was just wondering how old you are...if you are at least 15...i think you could use tampons...as long as you dont have them on longer than 4-6 hours, otherwise you could get sick...and use pads at night to prevent that. but its true...pads are safer, but tampons are so much more comfortable and they arent a such nuisance!

Definitely pads are safer, sorry but your mom is right. Tampons can give you weird symptoms.

first of all you won't lose your virginity by inserting these into yourself they dont' reach up that far, but anyways your mom is sort of right but also you can explain to her your reasons for wanting to use them but it would be smart to use them when your flow is heavy if not use pads. i've been using them for about 7 yrs now and i'm perfectly fine

why won't she let you use tampons? how are to go swimming while on the rag? your mom is paranoid like you'll get pregnant or something? you should ask why you can't use tampons
