1. tom brady. he's got what every player desires. the uncanny ability to win. he is a partial success of the system he is in, with the genius of belichek, but even so, put him on any team and they become a winner.
2. peyton manning. the absolute smartest player in the nfl. no other quarterback can read a defense and make a snap decision on the fly and still be as successful as he has been. he has made every receiver to don a colts uniform a good player and might be the most fundamental qb ever.
3. this spot can go to many different players. brett favre is the toughest and best leader to ever take the field. donovan mcnabb is solid and has a lot of guts. micheal vick is the most athletic (though that's about it). carson palmer is good and still very young. and don't forget about daunte culpepper who could prove himself to be one of the top qbs in the nfl now that he is out of minnesota and is looking to remake a name for himself. big ben is a winner, but still has a long way to grow.
pretty much after brady and p. manning, the rest of the field is no real competition.

Big Ben, Carson Palmer, Steve McNair. Brady is outstanding on an outstanding team. Plug in others in NE and they would also have done fantastic in the same time period. Peyton Manning has fantastic numbers but has not performed well in the big games. Big Ben has performed well under pressure and won. Carson has not proven his ability under pressure as much because of his injury in the playoffs against the Steelers in the first series, I believe. I think he will prove himself. Steve McNair took the Titans to within inches of winning the SB against the Rams, and is a clutch performer who may just surprise a lot of fans this year as a Raven.

Tom Brady is number one hands down. Look at the kids post season record, 10-1 I think.
Next would be McNabb, he led his team to the NFC championship 4 years in a row, and one superbowl.
Then probably Roethlisberger. He's very young and has performed very well in the post season well leading his team to a great record the last 2 seasons.
Delhomme should be right there also. He's been great under pressure.
Manning is great in the regular season but he can't get it done in the post.

1. Tom Brady is the most fundamentally sound QB. Flat out knows how to win with anyone.
2. Peyton Manning might be the smartest, but sometimes that hurts him with too many audibles.
3. Brett Favre is the toughest, most risk taking QB who makes due with no real threats on his team. Put him on the Colts and he'd put up Manning's numbers.

Tom Brady is hands down number one. I dont even think its really close.
Peyton Manning is gonna be on the list just because of his stats. His play in the play offs last year was much improved.
Based on your criteria, Donovan McNabb could be a candidate because hes had success in the postseason and puts up good numbers.
