Doing the dishes, I spotted two Black Widows, within a few minutes of each other. One was on the counter under the cutting board and one was coming down from the ceiling. Does this mean anything? I know that some Native Americans think when you see a certain animal it means something.... What about spiders? I dream about them a lot too, since I can remember dreaming.

Spiders are usually good luck or at least a warning of something bad (forewarned is forearmed.) There is a Spider Woman in some Native American mythology--try looking up stuff on her.

But black widows are poisonous and you should clean up where they might be coming in and vacuum out their hidey-holes. They're pretty little killers!

Arachne in Greek mythology was a weaver whose skill rivaled Athena's--Athena got so pissed when Arachne wove as well as her in a competition that she turned her to a spider. Sometimes spiders are associated with fate--like fate spinning your future. The Fates in Greek mythology were Clotho (the spinner), Lachesis (the weaver or pattern maker), and Atropos (the Unturning One--the one who cuts your life thread.) So it's not much of a leap to imagine a spider spinning out the thread of your life, making it into a pattern, and then eating it when it's all done and making another web.

I've always been told that seeing spiders means luck ...
having said that, I think these two just wanted to meet eachother and pair :-)

It means that you have a thriving population of the beetles, pillbugs, or moths that black widows eat.

Get out your broom and do some sweeping!
