I would say a quarter horse. I've had both arabs and QHs and QHs tend to be a little less hot and a little more easy to deal with. Although there are nice Arabs out there, I still think you are better off with a QH. And if you want something a little more suited to your discipline, an Appendix QH would be right up your alley. Because of the TB in them, they are a little taller, a little leaner, and very athletic. They make great english horses, and they still have the good QH mind. Hope this helps.

Well, first I am curious to what you are planing to be doing? because both breeds have great qualities for different disciplines. and what age of horse are you planning on getting. I have ridden both, and I train 2 year old quarter horses. Arabians can be quite feisty, but they are great for endurance riding, and they also do very well in dressage and jumping. Quarter horses are very versatile and they can excel in almost every discipline given the right training, but some quarter horses can be just as feisty as an Arabian. So if I were you, I would consider what type of riding you are planning to do and what horses are available that meet your criteria as well as correct conformation and personality (and try not to get distracted by color - in a new buyer a lot of sellers will use that as a weakness to sell you a horse that isn't what you really want).

I choose a quarter horse if I was not very experienced but if I was more experienced I'd choose either, some arabians tend to have an attitude and are kind of flighty that's why I said more experienced but I think that you shouldn't go on the breed. Go on the horse, whichever horse suits you best and has a good personality. If thinking of showing arabian might be a better choice. Both are great horses though and you should be pleased with whichever you pick.

Really it all depends on what kind of riding you are going to be doing arabians are generally more graceful that is why they are perfect for dressage but a quarter horses are more buff and muscular than an arabian you should really do the reserch and it always depends on the horse and the rider make sure that you test ride any horse. Arabians can be hot headed and quarter horses are generally more mellow.

If you haven't rode any Arabians or been around them as you are with Quarters, you are better off with a Quarter unless you give yourself more time to be around the horses.

If you are looking for a English and Jumper, Arabians are more qualified based on their training. However, Quarters have done just as good.

It depends on the horse and what you really would want. Arabians are more higher spirited while quarters can seem more laid back.

I have quarters and I done English, Western, Rodeo with them. I owned a few Arabians, one right now and more qualified for English than western riding.

Both are excellent choices for an all-around horse. Arabs tend to be a bit smarter and more sensitive - that's why I prefer them (more like a dog!) If you're on the big side, a Quarter horse is a better choice. Both can do english or western, but the Quarter horse is obviously a better choice if you're ever going to try reining or cattle work.

I would say it depends upon your riding level. Owning a horse requires trust in yourself to ride the horse through difficult situations and to trust the horse itself. Do you work with a trainer? Have you taken professional lessons? All important things to consider when buying your first horse.
For beginners I would recommend buying a Quarter Horse, as they have a generally calmer disposition, and can do all sorts of things. But, some riders get bored with the same old same old, which may result in the purchase of an Arabian. They have finer features, but are much more hot. Their gaits are also smoother, but don't pack as much power as a Quarter Horse can. If you are a timid or inexperienced rider, an Arab may be too much horse. But it again depends upon the horse, and if your riding alone, at a barn, etc.
I personally enjoy Quarters Horses. I like to ride a multitude of different disciplines, and Quarter Horses seem to me to have the most versatility. I also like their temperament, as they are generally easier to handle.
Perhaps your best horse is a Quarab.

Mustang. I have two, and they are the best trail horses ever. Especially if they were on the range for any amount of time. My horse is 14 years old and can still beat the socks off arabians and quarter horses.
And smart too! Loving, sweet, mind of their own (which I like).

Go for the Quarter Horse, I've had them my whole life, 46 years, And have had a few Arabs along the way. My experiences with Arabs is not negative for th most part. But in my opinion, A good Quarter Horse is best. Good luck.

well, it depends on what your looking for. Quarter Horses are nice and calm and arabians are hot and crazy. If you really know what your doing and want a good challenge, go with the arabian. If you just want to relax and have fun, go with the QH
