What side of town are you on?
Cheescake Factory, especially the one in The Grove is really nice and fancy for adults but also children wouldn't be too out of place.
There's also a nice place in Burbank called Castaways which is on the edge of a hill and really nice but again children would be ok as long as they aren't very very loud.
How old is the child ? Are they a baby ? A screaming toddler?

Well it depends on where you live.
In the west side of the US theres a really great Italian place called CucinaCucina and its really nice but its not fancy and totally kid friendly! I've had a couple of birthdays there and the servers are really nice and friendly. Might I suggest the Toscano Bread for a starter.... its a family favorite! (Well @ least MY family LOL)
