The title "fifth beatle" is fluid

Some say Stu Sutcliffe, others say Sir George Martin. Murray the "K" gave himelf the self-appointed title.

What about Brian Epstein or Pete Best.

Billy Preston, Jimmy Nicol, Neil Aspinall, Mal Evans, Tony Sheridan, Members of precursor bands (such as the Quarrymen) like Pete Shotton, Colin Hanton, Len Garry, Eric Griffiths, and Rod Davis, or any one of a number of temporary Beatles drummers, such as Tommy Moore, have, less often, been discussed in this context.

Your call.

The actual Beatles:

John Lennon
Paul McCartney
George Harrison
Ringo Starr

For the fifth position, different people have different favorites from the following:

Stuart Sutcliffe - formed the original band with John, played with the band in Hamburg, stayed behind to be with his girlfriend and died. The most likely candidate to be fifth.

Pete Best - the ex drummer, replaced by Ringo. Since he was replaced, he can't possibly be fifth.

Billy Preston - recorded some songs with Beatles in chorus. Not really a fifth, since he never performed as a Beatle - just performed with the Beatles - something like Eric Clapton & Elton John who have also performed a few songs with some Beatles members.
