Okay, I am going to write down some major generalisations here:

They are both in Europe, that's at least one thing they have in common. French people are very secular and German people are generally more religious and/or conservative. Both countries have a high standard of living with excellent education and medical facilities (some of the best in Europe).

However, there are generally more differences than similarities. The pace of life in France is slower. French tend to enjoy life more. German people are usually more introverted and have a reputation for being hard workers. Both countries have big economic problems (high unemployment figures!). They also have very strong labour unions. And both countries have a long history of coalition government / powersharing government in which two or more parties together form a government and run the country.

Both the French and Germans are generally speaking very polite people. They are sticklers to formality. Never start conversations with "tu"/"du" unless you are close to them!

Roads in France and Germany are excellent! Public transport in France is better than in Germany (especially the trains). I like both countries! But I prefer driving in Germany. No speed limits and no toll!
