Marie, it sounds like your parents are into some serious illegal drug business. Almost sounds like a scene from "Weeds".

Soundsl like they're selling pills placed in old prescrip medicine bottles--an old, but still common pratice going on today. What exactly those pills are, is anybody's guess. But your parents are not only playing a very dangerous game, but you and your siblings are also in danger as well.

If such drug dealings your parents makes go bad, no telling how violently angry the other party may be towards them---or they may even target you to exact revenge.

To avoid being the subject of a cold murder case, I'd snag a sample of the pills and write down the current cellphone number....and hand this over to police, explaining what is happening--and having you become the "confidential informant".

Yes, your parents may get investigated and possibly arrested. However, as first time offenders, they'll very likely see little if any jail time, work a probation deal---and hopefully, wake up and get out of the drug business all together. Not to mention doing so will save their lives---and yours too.

Something is WRONG for sure. But I would be more concerned for the children in this family than for the parent.

Talk to an adult you can trust, and who can take action if necessary.

Play it safe around the parent, as these mood changes are towards the angry side of the spectrum, violence is not far from that. Once you feel safe to confront the parent do it as gently and confrontational as possible, you are not to accuse, you are not even curious: "you are concerned that something may be upsetting the parent, as sometimes they don't act like themselves." something like that

Just be careful and sensitive, and protect those children that did not choose to have this problem enter their life.

Yeah, unfortunately those are all pretty tell-tale signs of drug abuse. I have to say I'm sorry but no one on here can help you other than to make sure that all children present get some professional as well as family support

It could be drug abuse. Something shady is definitely going on. Maybe they are drug dealers.
