Cars on fuel = no need to buy fuel.
No need to buy fuel = No tax to pay on fuel.
No tax to pay on fuel = Angry government.
Governement doesn't want to get angry, so it pretends it can't be done.
I have no doubt in my mind that it can be done.

If you've ever tried to remove the hydrogen from water, you'll know that it needs energy. In fact, the energy needed is the same as the maximum energy you would get back by burning the hydrogen, since it turns back into water when it burns. And most engines can't get anywhere near the maximum efficiency.
No conspiracy needed when the laws of thermodynamics already forbid people from building such a thing.
The only way you could get energy out of this would be if, instead of burning it, you fed the hydrogen into a fusion reactor. Nobody's managed to make a practical one of those, let alone one tiny enough to fit in a car. And I think most people would be uncomfortable with having a small nuclear power plant under the hood.

They had something about hydrogen cars on the discovery channel where they had working cars on hydrogen. As for the water i think it would be extremely difficult to extract enough hydrogen from the water as you drive. On mythbusters they had an episode about a car running off hydrogen bieng extracted from water. Cars can be made to run off hydrogen but to implament a full blown line of hydrogen cars would cost so much not to mention the new hyrogen plants and stations. They also want to keep gas for all the time they can. Big business is hard at work as well to keep gas.

The best way to extract hydrogen from water would be solar powered electrolysis. It would be more efficient to do it on a large scale (not in a tank in a car). If you could figure out a way to let lightning supply the current, you would be a bazillionare.... I think that needs to be looked into.

The air powered vehicles run on compressed air, meaning they're truly powered with the help of electrical energy because there had to be some technique of having the stress intense adequate. human beings were talking about vehicles that "run on water" for 100 years. that's merely no longer a probability. there is not any available ability in water, that is why all animals want more effective than that to outlive.

Very true statment Lyvy..... Cars can run on water but the government doesn't want that to happen. There is a guy who figured out how to do it and he was gonna make a pataent and start coming out with cars that ran on water and the government wouldn't let him. Therere are only 5 cars in existence that can do it. GM however has a need car coming out that runs on hydrogen.

The technology has been created. But the design writes where bought out by the petroleum industry as soon as they got wind that there was a working prototype for H20 driven engine had been developed. When I was working for Caterpillar (earth movers) I watched a diesel engine running on water. The reason for this is because the combustion compression ratio is so high it makes the water combust. Pretty crazy.

It takes lots of energy to get hydrogen out of water. More than you get out of the hydrogen when you're done extracting it.

The process is easy. The question is how to properly use and store it. Stored hydrogen is much more dangerous than a tank of gasoline. One wreck and your nice non-gasoline car would be completely destroyed.
