Go to the libarary...this takes lots of reading and studying...always remember practice makes perfect....

The closest library is the best answer, however there are other channels (excuse the pun). If you have a magic shop in your vicinity, hang there for a while dude, and chat up others with the same interests. Be surprised the info you can get from there.
There are many websites available that also cater to the mentalist's needs, but remember, it's all illusion. Google away!
Check out anything by Penn & Teller -- Those guys are gods!
This comes from a person who lived the life of a magician (illusionary). Other authors to look out for are The Amazing Randi, Max Maven, The Amazing Kreskin (yeah, Amazing shows up a lot), oh and an extremely good website is Penguin Magic.
