I would say 90% of the questions on this yahoo answers thing, can be very easily answered if you search on google or yahoo. So, I guess my overall question is why are people so dumb?

people r not dumb yahoo answers users are very intelligent. u have seen many people i.e 90% of them r asking very easy questions and almost all the users know the google search engine and they can search answers for their questions but for easy questions also some intellectuals gives an extraordinary answer which may not be seen on the websites. for example u had asked what is meant by a tooth brush that means u dont know whats a tooth brush is. thats not the answer but u r looking for a best or special or extraordinary or ever seen meaning. sorry i'm not giving a comment on ur question.
And some people think this is like a forum and give thier ideas or their experiences. And we know that our experiences are not written in any website and cannot caught in a search engine.

To answer the posted question - I believe it's the social aspect that make people post. That's why newsgroups are still so popular. You get personal reactions out of the questions enstilling some sense of attention in the autonomous Internet. Searching for answers without the right keywords or determination will cause people to give up easily so why bother searching at all.
It's very similar to us men and setting up electronics. We do it and when it doesn't work, we read the instructions.
To answer your second question - I wish I had an answer. The Information Highway was supposed to empower people to find an answer on their own. Now it's just an excuse. "I couldn't find it on the Internet."

I've been wondering that same thing since I started answering questions on this site.
I would assume one of two things:
1. They are young and trying to get a rise out of people.
or
2. They are truly stupid.

it is right, google might be answer many question posted here before but to help people is a great matter and in general who asks question, is never dumb.

properly till it obviously racist or promotion illicit and unlawful acts which have a sufferer then I dont get it both. operating example promotion unlawful downloading of loose video games, at the same time as no longer the great, dosent particularly damage anybody yet posting links to information superhighway sites that scam etc might want to be reported, its about judgement and regrettably some human beings are nuts and they get as a lot say as you or I.....

I asked myself the same question, too. Maybe because people want to hear real people's own experience. But even with that you gotta be careful, because some people report you as private chatter.
