My car will not start and I have the feeling it is the battery or the alternator. I want to try the battery first to see if the problem is that simple but do not know how to remove it and place the new one back in.

It could be the battery or the alternator but you should also check to see if your spark plugs are firing.

You can check this by unplugging one of the spark plug while attached to the plug wire then start the ignition, if you see spark while trying to start the car then your problems are battery or alternator not having enough kick to start your car.

However, if you plugs don't fire then you need to check your ignition modulator. The modulator is located behind the plug rotor or if this is EFI then it's under the throttle or trace back the electric plug's wire to the computer, it's located inside the computer.

go to Autozone..they will check it to see if its bad for no charge. If it is bad they will usually install a new one for free.
